MAYNARD DUKE OF HEELMARK
(CH. Dirigo Gambler's Marker x CH. Heelmark's Dontcha N'Deavor ROM) DOB: May 2, 1985 (1985 - 1996)
Although we added Maynard to our family strictly as a companion, he would have been shown had he been 3/4" shorter. He was named after jazz trumpeter Maynard Ferguson. Friends talked us into trying a dog show where Maynard measured out - but that truly did not matter to us - he made us fall in love with this breed!
He was our first-born baby.
He ran many a road race with Carol (Manchester was his favorite).
He loved the excitement of holidays, especially Halloween.
Maynard's one issue was separation anxiety. Sooooo, in September, 1986, we got him a little present! Mandy came home and she was all HIS - it was love at first sight! Unfortunately, Mandy didn't realize that humans lived with her and should have some say in her life until she was two years old! but Maynard and she were the happiest dogs on the planet. Maynard lived until 11 1/2 years old.
