The first picture above is with mom, Mandy. At  one week, Mandy developed a uterine infection and had to be removed from the puppies. My good friend, Karen Berger, Red Wings Vizslas, insisted that I bring my pups to join her litter and be nursed by her Tessa from one to three weeks. The picture below is of the  "gang" at Karen's home - Karen's pups are in red and my pups are in tan. Mandy went on strong antibiotics and prostaglandins. It was a lot of stress, but fun with our three small children and way too many puppies. The  picture above was taken upon our return. How can one ever thank Karen and Tessa for their loving kindness - one can not.

Raisa (center)  Celebrating the 15th Birthday of Pfalcon (L) and Devon (R), April 2007  and an early celebration of her 16th birthday which fell on July 13, 2007 - Kathie Laundy made a special cake for Vela's birthday in August, & Raisa joined in a belated celebration for her 16th birthday!  She chowed down on liver cake and was included in the birthday song!
